Another fantastic Summer painty session was enjoyed at Soundwave Croatia, hosted once more at the Garden, Tisno earlier this month. Artists from across the UK and Croatia joined us this year as we were able to take over a number of buildings across the site. Artists included Sri McKinnon, Curse273, Will Barras, Kaption1, Mimm Collective, Fors, Kai One and Alex, Jack O’Callaghan, Cazer, Mosk, Smack, Teoson, Artez, and Luna. Big thanks to everyone who made it so special xx
Soundwave Croatia is only a few weeks away and we’re getting ready to get painty.. We recently took the Best Joined Up experience to the CLA / Bussey Building in Peckham, for an evening of Music and Live Art. I was really pleased to join forces with Point273 and Candy Lo for a bit of a doodle..
Yesterday saw the opening of a new street art pop-up Gallery in Margate, by the whirlwind Ayaan, organiser of the annual all female paint jam, Femme Fierce. There is an impressive collection of artists involved, with a selection of prints and originals from INKIE (UK), Otto Schade (Chile), Fio Silva (Argentina), Zina (Norway), Parlee ERZ (UK), DICE67 (UK), Perspicere (UK), Tommy Gurr (UK), Dream Safari (UK) and many others. I have a mixture of tees, prints and jewellery on sale and enjoyed meeting fellow artists Giusi Tomasello, Darkissed Dayze and Gary Alford Art to paint the boarding on a disused former restaurant overlooking the beach.
Femme Fierce is the UK’s largest all female street art festival held on International Women’s Day, Sunday 8 March 2015. Following on from the success of last year’s event, I’m really stoked to be heading back to paint the tunnel amongst such a wide selection of artists and positive ladies. 150+ international and UK based street artists and graffiti writers will be creating murals that run the length of the walls of the Leake Street tunnel in Waterloo, London.
This years chosen Charity is Plan UK, which was chosen because of its ‘Because I Am A Girl’ Campaign and organiser Ayaan Bulale has been busy explaining the ethos behind this years event, via Kickstarter. This years event will include workshops, seminars, gallery shows and expand on last year to include a kids wall to help bring the next generation of female artists into the tunnel. For more info – please watch the Kickstarter video and check out the Femme Fierce Facebook page
Making the most of the bank holiday weekend, I was really stoked to be able to join Sri McKinnon running a stall at StreetFest in Shoreditch last month, trundling a range of goodies along to this rapidly growing celebration of Live Art and Street culture.
With Global Street Art and Secret Walls providing a curated selection of artists including Captain Kris, Tizer, Candi Lo and too many more to mention, the event is as focused on its Live Art as its music, dance and sports. There were some amazing dance crews, beatbox battles and deejays giving it their best shot and loads to take a peek at, over the day.
This weekend for us though, was all about getting the stall set up within the TogetherTheyCome Market, showing folks what we do and meeting some really positive and friendly people along the way.
With a new range of tees to launch and trialing out a fresh range of bags and jewellery, a stack load of stickers and new prints were all on the stall, along with a selection of custom skate decks. Sri brought to the table her full range of hip hop and 80’s inspired handmade jewellery aswell as her illustrated cards. More of Sri’s work can be seen through her facebook page which also has links to her store.
I’m really stoked to be putting work into this exhibition, which is being organised by BestJoinedUp and will see 27 artists gathered together for a month long exhibition in the Dock Street Market, Leeds and opens over the Jubilee weekend.
